Frequently asked questions
What happens in my first session?
Free 15-minute call before the first full session — a low-pressure chance to talk briefly about what's brought you to counselling and check we're a good fit, with no obligation to continue. Full sessions are 1 hour.
Do I need therapy?
Only you can decide whether therapy is right for you. Sometimes it's suggested by someone close to us, and sometimes we simply feel it's time to look after our mental health. Therapy and counselling are an investment in your wellbeing and your future.
Professional psychological support gives you a safe, confidential space where you're heard and understood — often the first step towards lasting change.
It's worth considering therapy if:
- you've been feeling anxious, sad, overwhelmed, or empty for a while,
- your relationships are becoming harder or more painful,
- you feel stuck in the past,
- you're going through a difficult situation (divorce, bereavement, trauma, or problems at work or within the family).
I've never had counselling before — how do I know if it's right for me?
That's exactly what free 15-minute call before the first full session is for — no pressure, no commitment, just a chance to ask questions and see if it feels like a good fit.
How many sessions will I need?
There's no single answer — everyone's needs are different. Some people work short-term (a handful of sessions), others for longer, on deeper patterns, trauma, or a life change.
I tailor the therapy to you and your own pace. We regularly talk about what's helping and what you want to achieve, and you're the one who decides when to end sessions. There are no fixed packages and no pressure around timing.
What areas do you help with?
I work with adults facing difficult emotional, relational, and life situations, using a person-centred approach. The areas I most often help with include:
- anxiety, stress, and tension,
- low mood and depression,
- difficult experiences and trauma (abuse, betrayal, manipulation, gaslighting),
- grief and loss,
- relationship difficulties and setting boundaries,
- low self-esteem and a critical inner voice,
- identity, sexuality, and LGBTQ+ experiences,
- cultural and immigration-related challenges,
- addiction and compulsive behaviours,
- self-harm and suicidal thoughts,
- burnout and difficulties at work,
- obsessions and intrusive thoughts.
If what you're going through isn't listed here but you feel you need support, do get in touch and briefly describe what you're dealing with. Some of these areas are covered in more depth on the Areas of Support page.
How much do sessions cost?
£50 per hour, for online, telephone, or in-person sessions. Payment by bank transfer only, required 24 hours before the session.
Do you offer online or telephone sessions, or only in person?
All three — Face-to-face, online (Zoom), and telephone, whichever suits you best.
Is online therapy right for me?
Online therapy is an effective form of psychological support, especially for people who:
- live abroad or a long way from the practice,
- have busy schedules (work, children, caring responsibilities),
- feel anxious about attending an in-person session for the first time.
Online sessions can be just as effective as in-person ones. All you need is:
- a quiet, private space,
- a stable internet connection and a working microphone/camera,
- somewhere comfortable to sit.
I work through the secure Zoom platform — you'll get an individual link before each session, so there's no need to set up any additional accounts.
Online therapy is especially recommended for people looking for a Polish-speaking therapist outside Poland (for example in the UK, Ireland, or elsewhere in Europe), and for anyone who needs flexible appointment times.
What are your working hours / how do I book?
I'm generally available Mon, Tue, Wed: 16:30–19:00. Thu, Fri: 9:30–19:00..
Book a session directly using the calendar below, send a message using the form, or get in touch by email or phone.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancellations require at least 48 hours' notice. Payment is taken 24 hours before each session. If less than 48 hours' notice is given, the session fee is not refunded.
What do therapy sessions look like?
Every therapy is different. I work in a person-centred, relational way — you choose what we talk about, and I listen closely and support you through it. At the start, we:
- talk through your expectations,
- agree how often we'll meet (usually once a week),
- go through the ground rules (confidentiality, cancelling sessions, contact between sessions).
During sessions, you have space for difficult emotions, memories, conflicts, and fears — you don't need to arrive with a "ready-made" topic. Over time, many people find they understand themselves better, find it easier to set boundaries, and regain a sense of agency over their own life.
Is what I say in sessions confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is at the heart of therapeutic work — everything you share in sessions is treated with respect and discretion.
Only in exceptional circumstances, where there's a serious risk to the life or health of you, a child, or someone else, might I have a duty to inform the relevant services. Wherever it's possible and safe to do so, I'll talk to you about this first.
Are you qualified and registered?
Yes — I'm a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), registration number 418237, MBACP.
Do you offer counselling in Polish?
Yes — I offer counselling and psychotherapy sessions conducted entirely in Polish, for anyone who feels more comfortable working in their own language, whether you're in the UK or elsewhere. See Counselling in Polish in the UK for more detail.
Do you offer reduced fees or concessions?
No — the fee is £50 per session for everyone, with no reduced-rate or concession option.
