Addiction and substance misuse
If your relationship with alcohol, drugs, or another behaviour has become something you want to change, counselling can help you understand what's underneath it and support you in making that change.
What this can look like
This can mean questioning your relationship with alcohol, drugs, or another behaviour such as gambling or other compulsive habits — whether you're only just starting to notice it's become a problem, actively trying to cut down or stop, or further along in recovery and wanting support to understand what's underneath it and stay on track. Wherever you are with it, you don't need to have already made a decision before getting in touch.
How counselling can help
We'll work together to understand what the behaviour is doing for you — what it's helping you cope with or avoid — and build a different relationship with it, at a pace that works for you. Counselling focuses on the emotional and psychological side of change; if you're also going through withdrawal or need medical support, your GP or a specialist service can provide that alongside our sessions.
